My Vow…

“The days are long, but the years are short.” – Gretchen Rubin

My name is Vogel. Welcome to my blog! 2013 marks the beginning of my new attitude. My number one goal for 2013 is to be happy. I’m hoping by taking a step back and embracing a “glass half full” mentality I will ease all of the anxiety that bubbles up within me from day to day.

I have bought a 5 year journal. It’s appropriately called, “The Happiness Project”. This journal is going to allow me to write daily. I’m going toΒ chronicleΒ my escapadesΒ in my journal and highlight them in this blog.

Please note, I’m doing this more for myself than anyone else. I figured that there would be no harm in sharing it though. Perhaps I will make you laugh…or cry…or just give you an AHHHHH HAAAAAA moment you can identify with.

I would like to apologize in advanced for my bad grammar and terrible spelling. It happens.

I’m starting my journal on January 1, 2013. I will finish it on December 31, 2017. I know the next 5 years will be full of ups and downs. I vow to appreciate the beauty in both.

    Hi Vogel,
I have came across your blog through your amazing posting regarding Mallory Rae. Many of my Facebook friends have reposted what you have wrote and I too thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It was later that I noticed that you are very close to finishing your Happiness Project and I have been inspired to start mine in January. I read the book last year and there were so many amazing things that I wanted to try, but life happens and I completely forgot to continue the project. One thing that I have been doing is write one sentence/quote a day in a journal, which has been a great way for me to reflect on my day. Recently I started a blog as a way to keep my friends and family in touch with what I have been doing now that I have moved to Australia. I have a couple weeks to set up my Happiness Project and that is exactly what I am going to do! Sorry for the long winded message, but I just wanted to let you know that you have inspired me and I am going to make 2014 better than any other year so far.
    Best wishes to you!
    Katie

      Hi Katie,

Your note was so sweet to wake up to. I started my journal in January 2013. I’m only one year in so I still have 4 more to go; my journal is for 5 years. I found in this past year that having my Happiness Project has helped me tremendously. Life is complicated. If you take a moment each day to think about something positive, it shifts your entire state of mind. Even on the days that just plain sucked I could be happy that I had lots of Kleenex or a good friend’s shoulder to cry on. I wish you the best in your project. I hope you find it as enlightening as I have.

Thank you so much for reading and sharing Mallory’s story. Mallory touched my heart even though we never met and it makes me feel so good that her spirit is reaching so far. One of my best friends is from Sydney, Australia. She always gushes about what a wonderful place Australia is. May your travels bring you much happiness!

If you ever need anything just let me know. Thank you again for reaching out. xoxo Vogel
