Birthday Boy

31 Jul

O

July was cray cray. We had company every weekend. We are blessed to have so many people we love come all the way to San Diego to hang. Let’s dive right in.

The Dip

Mike and I have been too busy to plan our Italian honeymoon. It’s a good problem to have. I know we will sort it our eventually. I did order a book to help us plan. If only the book  would plan it for us.

The Bursts

The love of my life’s sign is a Cancer and his Birthday always kicks off July. I firmly believe Cancer is the best sign. My future Hubs is patient and kind. He calms me when I am freaking the F out. I celebrate his Birthday all month long. I do little things to treat him and make him feel special. We spent his actual Birthday weekend at a VERY Classy wedding and celebrating the 4th of July. In my universe the fireworks are all for him.

Thank you to Yayo, Nats, Sarahbutt, my Ma, Peyton’s Butler, and Jess for making July the BEST. We are so lucky to have so many incredible people enrich our lives.

Bring on August. Two months to go before I’m wifed up. Mildly excited.

June was really fun. No dip to mention. I got to spend time with my two Besties in the Bay Area, rub a baby bump, watch some baseball, happy hour with my Classy WAG tribe, eat tacos in Tijuana, and finalize elopement plans in Santa Barbara. The pics say it all. Life is pretty awesome right now. Can’t complain.

31 May

May 2017 made for a super fun month. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so much. My abs still hurt from this past weekend.

The Dips

May 9th always makes me sad because that is the anniversary of my friend’s passing. I felt like she sent me little signs all day that she is with me. The life and death of Sarah Faye Hurth is something I think about daily but this time of year more than ever. The jacaranda trees in bloom throughout San Diego bring me comfort. I like to think she is saying “hi”.

I slipped down some stairs in Mexico and sprained my second toe on my right foot. I have to wear a super sexy boot for the next two to four weeks. I am grateful its not broken.

The Bursts

gap intelligence’s 5th Annual Drives for Rides raised $57,650 for the Emilio Nares Foundation. Hartman’s office showed up in full force. It was a fantastic day of fun while raising money for my favorite local charity.

Hartman and I have been taking trips across the boarder to Mexico and have had THE BEST time. Mexico adventures are magical. We enjoyed a day trip to a very sketchy water park and also rented a beach house in Punta Banda over Memorial Day weekend. I will forever be grateful for someone littering on the beach since it led to the most epic rap of all time. Not you, not me, litter.

I have been exceptionally happy with work lately. It’s nice to love what I do for a living. My office has the best company culture and I feel so grateful for be a gapper.

I am a little less from four months from marrying the love of my life. I am very excited to be Hartman’s Wife.

I head to the Bay Area tomorrow afternoon to spoil my college Bestie who has a bun in the oven. I will also be lucky enough to brunch with my high school Bestie too on Sunday. Can’t wait!

Hope May brought a smile to your face and June is your best June yet! Thank you for reading.

Birthday Babe

30 Apr

24

I celebrate my Birthday all month long. It’s the norm for me. I draw it out as long as possible. Jamming in all sorts of fun stuff throughout the month of April makes my heart happy. Cheers to all of my fellow stubborn Tauruses. Our season is coming to an end.

The Dip

I miss my Nephew and my Niece like crazy. I wish I loved closer to them. When I see kids running around I get a little sad cause I miss them so much.

The Bursts

This month was spent with family and friends. Hartman’s family came to San Diego from Tahoe. We stayed at the historical Hotel Del Coronado (it was EPIC).

I have found two incredible friends from Mike’s work that have brought an overwhelming amount of joy to my life. I am super grateful for my Classy WAGs.

My Birthday celebration involved a cheese wheel that was lit on fire. Hartman and I decided on Italy for our honeymoon and it has been insanely special eating Italian food and drinking Italian reds. Can’t wait.

Summer is my favorite time of year. The weather has been so beautiful. Excited to spend more time at the beach! Bring it on.

Baseball is back. That makes this gamer Babe VERY happy.

Farewell, April. Thank you for being so good to me. What’s been bringing you joy? Take a moment to pause and reflect. It’s good for you.

gappy Birthday

31 Mar

1.1

Q1 flew by! I can’t believe March is donezo. I am hoping that Q2 will be a bit more calm. We have had so much going on. Life is busy busy busy.

The Dip

Hartman drove through a swarm of bees this month and it was one of the most horrifying experiences of my entire life. We had the windows down and the sun roof open. We thought we had survived unscathed when all of the sudden I felt a sting on my back left shoulder. It was incredibly scary because all I wanted to do was run and I was trapped in a car. Luckily Hartman and our friends sprung into action immediately (it was rather impressive). We got the stinger out so quickly that my reaction to it was the most mild I have had yet. It was still traumatizing.

The Bursts

gap intelligence turned 14 years old on March 1st and part of my job was making sure that the office had a gaptastic time celebrating. I love my new job so much. We also had spirit week mid March and all of the fun events made for a wonderful work week. I am so grateful to be a gapper.

Long time forever friends coming to San Diego brought me so much happiness. YAYO and Nat live in Portland and we just love every minute of face time we get with them. We have been friends since college. It’s so lovely to spend time with people that know you inside and out.

Hartman and I spent a weekend in Auburn celebrating his Dad’s 70th Birthday. We had the best weekend laughing with family. We even were able to sneak in a “fun city” lunch with the Clarks. Lately I always seem to be managing traveling with balloons. It’s a good problem to have.

After the busy quarter we have been grateful for the last few weekends being super zen in San Diego. We have taken time to explore and enjoy the city just us too. We really are so lucky to call San Diego home. It’s important to remind ourselves why we love this beautiful place so very much.

A long over due girls night made for the perfect end to a crazy month. Mean girls jokes and champagne are always flowing when the Anthology gals reunite. Craft and Commerce was such a fun spot to squeeze in a Monday night of fun.

Tonight I will be toasting KT Steel’s Birthday and dancing the night away.

I am so excited tomorrow is April because it’s my Birthday Month! Bring on all the fun.

Hope your March brought you happiness. Thxs for reading!

Fitbit Wars

28 Feb

5

Each night before I go to bed I write one sentence in my journal. I write down the happiest part of my day. It grounds me. It helps me keep negative thoughts at bay. It’s pretty wild that I set this goal five years ago and I am on the last year of my journal. It trips me out looking back on the last four years.

The Dip

Hartman and I had some hurdles this month. He is the love of my life and we are committed to always putting our love for each other above all else. Being together for so long we know how to push each others buttons. At the end of the day we have worked through it and are moving forward. The grass is greener where you water it.

The Bursts

January was kind of a $hit show health wise. Lots of unwellness so I decided to make February all about wellness. I completed a 28 day yoga challenge as well as a 28 day Fitbit challenge which was quickly renamed the “Fitbit Wars” in my office since we are all so ridiculously competitive. Exploring San Diego on foot was a major bonus. I joined Pure Indoor Cycling in January and have been kicking off my Friday mornings spinning with KT Steel. KT is quickly becoming my partner in crime and I am very excited about this development. She makes life fun. We even spent Valentine’s Day together since our men were away at a conference. I also went sober for the month and didn’t drink a drop of booze. It was good for me to recharge my batteries and be so good to my body. I am feeling like a million bucks. Your health really is your greatest wealth.

What filled your heart with gratitude this February?

Birthday Fun

31 Jan

1

It’s 2017. Traditionally January is a VERY busy month for me. This January was no exception to the rule.

The Dip

I woke up on New Years day with the full blown flu. I suspect I picked it up over Christmas break in Tahoe from my Niece. I tried to pretend I wasn’t getting sick while I enjoyed the San Diego portion of our vacation. New Years eve celebrations weakened my immune system. I woke up on New Years day with a fever and was absolutely miserable for a full week. Stupidly I traveled while sick which was a terrible decision. Lesson learned. Listen to your body and do not ignore signs that you need to slow the F down.

The Bursts

Peyton is now 4 years old. I celebrated this momentous occasion with him in Northern California. Being an Auntie brings me a joy that I never knew existed. Spoiling him rotten is the best. Bailey is cute as a button and I find it crazy how my heart wells up with a love when I am with them. Everything they do is just so damn cute. Peyton’s favorite song is “Star Boy” by The Weekend and he dances around and sings when it plays. Bailey’s yawn makes me sequel. The birthday weekend festivities included taking him to get balloons and picking out a massive chocolate cake. I think I may have turned him on to celebrating his Birthday all weekend long. I got to witness my favorite Aunt and Uncle meeting Bailey. It was a very special weekend and I am grateful that I have spent Peyton’s first 4 birthdays with him. I know someday life may get in the way of me being there and I tear up at the thought. I will most likely be on my honeymoon when Sweet Bailey turns one and it hurts my heart. I’ll have to find a way to spoil her in my absence.

We are lucky that many friends we love like to vacation in San Diego. At my Bestie’s wedding I formed a close relationship with a fellow bridesmaid and Hartman had a bromance with her husband. We were able to reconnect for dinner in Little Italy and it was such a fun night.

This Nasty Woman marched on January 21st and it was a powerful moment. I can’t stand Drumpf and it gave me hope to see that I was not alone. 40,000 other San Diegans feel the same.

Classy WAG life has enriched my social circle tremendously. I am beyond grateful to be forming strong friendships with incredible women. I enjoyed drinking champagne and watching Monster Jam from classy.org’s balcony. I saw a monster truck do a back flip. It was rad.

My favorite Aunt and Uncle moved to New Port Beach. Hartman and I capped off a busy month enjoying the best of Southern California beaches and bars. We had so much fun! It’s so awesome having family close by. We also managed to squeeze in a lunch in Laguna Beach with our LTFFs. Laughing with friends while sipping on rose is pure bliss.

What brought you happiness this month? Take a moment to reflect on the joy in your life.

Thank you for reading.
